Experience the exhilaration of learning to surf
At The Surf School you will learn
the skills required to become a competent and safe
surfer (beginners lessons are at waist deep
water). What's more, you'll also increase your
fitness and ocean awareness at the same time!
If you already have surfing experience, then the professional surf instructors will show you how to build on your skill level and gain even more enjoyment! We offer a safe surfing program enabling you to progress through The Surf School’s own certificate levels from beginners (level 1) to advanced (level 5).
Surfing Lessons are available as group lessons with up to 10 people per instructor or as a private lesson where your surf instructor will take you out in the most suitable surf for your ability (your own equipment is optional)
All ages (8yrs +) and all abilities are welcome to attend! You'd be surprised by the variety of thrilled students The Surf School has inspired.
When you surf with The Surf School, all your surfing equipment is supplied, including the latest soft surfboards for beginners and "steamer" wetsuits. Hiring your surfing gear as part of a one day surf package or whenever you are at the beach is encouraged so you can further practice your skills.
Fibreglass, custom made boards designed by the head coach (and shaped by local shaper, Tommy 'Gun' Spencer) are available for intermediate surfers. Perfect for your next steps.
Surfing Lessons are conducted at Upton Towans Beach (see Locations for maps). Other surfing beach locations include Gwithian, Godrevy and Porthmeor beaches, which can be arranged by appointment.
Bookings are essential for all classes. Lessons are available on weekends and during school holidays from 9am. Weekday and evening lessons can be arranged by appointment.
